The second half of the crust is called the Continental crust. It is made up of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. It is called the Continental layer because it makes up the continents. This layer is 25-70 kilometres thick and makes up 70% of the Earths crust. This is an important layer because the surface of the the crust sits above sea levels , and allows the existence of land life.
